Import recipes from anywhere

Tap the + button to add a recipe in one of three ways: paste a link, pick a photo from your camera roll (a cookbook page, a handwritten card, or a screenshot), or snap a new photo. When you add a photo, Recipea reads the text and turns it into a recipe for you.

Recipea works with regular recipe websites and the big social platforms — Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok. Just copy the link and paste it in: a web address from your browser, or a post or video from a social app (Share → Copy link). Recipea finds the recipe and pulls out the ingredients and steps automatically.

Here's what works on each social platform:

• Instagram — Reels and posts. Recipea imports the recipe when the creator wrote it in the caption, or linked to a recipe page from it. The post photo becomes the recipe image.
• Facebook — posts, Reels, and videos. Recipea imports the recipe from the description, a link in it, or the first (pinned) comment — many creators put the full recipe there.
• YouTube — videos and Shorts. Recipea imports the recipe from the description or a link in it. If neither has it, Recipea can read the video's subtitles to reconstruct it.
• TikTok — videos. Recipea imports the recipe from the description or a link there.

Some pages keep their recipe behind a login or don't publish it in a readable format. Either way, you can always edit a recipe after importing to fix anything that didn't come through.

Make recipes your own

Open a recipe and tap Edit to change the title, ingredients, the servings, the preparation steps and cooking time. You can adjust the number of servings any time; the ingredients automaticall scale for you. In your profile, you can even switch between imperial and metric units for the ingredients.

Organize them in cookbooks

Cookbooks let you group recipes however you like — "Italian," "Vegan," "Baking," whatever works for you. Create one from the home screen, then add recipes when you import them or from a recipe's menu. To rename or delete a cookbook, use the menu in the top right — keep in mind that deleting a cookbook also deletes the recipes inside it.

To reorder recipes, open the cookbook, tap the menu in the top right, choose Reorder recipes, drag them into place using the handles, and tap Done.

You can search your recipes by title or ingredient using the search bar on the home screen or inside a cookbook.
